“We Will Stand Firmly with India Against Terrorism,” President Donald Trump Says in Response to Kashmir Attack
In response to the horrific terrorist attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, U.S. President Donald Trump has expressed deep sorrow and extended strong support to India. He stated, “As strong as India is against terrorism, America stands just as firmly with India.”
In a post on Truth Social on Tuesday, Trump wrote:
“The news from Kashmir is deeply disturbing. We strongly support India in its fight against terrorism. We pray for the souls of those killed and wish a speedy recovery to the injured. To Prime Minister Modi and the incredible people of India – you have our full support and deepest condolences. We stand with you!”
On Tuesday, terrorists opened fire on tourists near a scenic valley close to the town of Pahalgam, killing at least 28 people, including several foreigners, and injuring many others. It is being considered the deadliest attack in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama bombing.
The Resistance Front (TRF), an affiliate of Lashkar-e-Taiba, has claimed responsibility for the attack.
U.S. Senator JD Vance also expressed his condolences to the victims. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“Usha and I extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, India. Over the past few days, we have been in awe of the country’s beauty and the warmth of its people. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by this tragedy.”
Although such attacks on tourists in Kashmir are rare, the incident has sparked intense reactions both within India and internationally.
