Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday strongly condemned Israel’s ongoing military assaults in Gaza, accusing the Israeli government of committing indiscriminate genocide. He also criticized the silence of the international community.
Speaking at a meeting of a pro-Palestinian parliamentary group in Istanbul, Erdoğan said:
"Driven by utter madness, the Israeli government is killing Palestinians indiscriminately."
He referenced the deaths of women, children, doctors, and both local and international aid workers in Gaza, stating:
"This is not just a matter of land or political support—it is a fight for justice, peace, and humanity."
"A Fight for Humanity, Not Just for Muslims"
Erdoğan emphasized that the Palestinian issue is not only a concern for Muslims but for every person with a conscience:
"This struggle is about standing for humanity."
He noted that more than 7% of Gaza's population has either been killed or wounded, with 212 journalists killed and thousands of doctors, nurses, and aid workers deliberately targeted.
"Just days ago, a female journalist was killed along with 10 members of her family. Children have died before our eyes due to a lack of medicine, water, and food."
Western Hypocrisy
Accusing Western nations of double standards, Erdoğan said:
"If even a minor incident occurs elsewhere, they immediately impose sanctions. But where are they when it comes to Israel?"
He stated that since October 7, 2023, nearly 60,000 Palestinians have been "brutally killed," most of them women and children. He also mentioned that 80% of Gaza’s buildings have been destroyed.
"Proposals for Displacement Are Worthless"
Erdoğan rejected any proposals to displace Palestinians from their ancestral lands:
"Any such proposal is worthless to us."
He described Israel’s actions as “one of the greatest acts of plunder of the century,” and added:
"Those who remain silent in the face of genocide in Gaza are seeking to normalize these atrocities—labeling resistance as terrorism."
In conclusion, he called on the United Nations and the international community to take firm and humane action to stop the ongoing violence in Gaza.
