Saudi Defense Minister Meets Iran’s Supreme Leader to Promote Regional Security and Global Peace

Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, met with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Thursday.

During the meeting, Prince Khalid delivered a letter on behalf of King Salman of Saudi Arabia and conveyed greetings from the Saudi leadership.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Prince Khalid stated that discussions took place on bilateral relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran as well as various issues of mutual interest.

Prince Khalid also met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. During this meeting, they discussed regional and international developments and the measures being taken to address them.

Later, the Saudi Defense Minister held separate meetings with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces.

Prince Khalid arrived in the Iranian capital Tehran on Thursday morning for an official visit.

This visit is part of the ongoing diplomatic engagement recently renewed between Saudi Arabia and Iran. Earlier, on Monday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan had a phone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, during which they discussed the regional situation and possible ways to address it.
