Ankara aims to reach $100 billion trade target with Washington during Trump’s second term
Istanbul, April 11, 2025:
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan emphasized the importance of strengthening U.S.-Turkey relations during his speech at the Antalya Diplomatic Forum on Friday.
He expressed optimism about the future of bilateral ties in light of President Donald Trump’s second term in office.
“I believe that in President Trump’s second term, our relations with the United States will thrive across all sectors, thanks to our close friendship,” Erdoğan said.
Describing the United States as a strategic partner, Erdoğan addressed concerns over rising global trade tensions fueled by tariff policies and economic rivalry.
“We are making every effort to ensure that the intensifying trade competition, driven by tariffs, does not take a destructive turn. Turkey will emerge as one of the winning countries in this process,” he stated.
The Turkish President further added:
“We place special emphasis on achieving our $100 billion bilateral trade goal with our strategic ally, the United States.”
