On Saturday, a lockdown was imposed on Parliament Hill in Ottawa after a person was surrounded in the East Block of the Parliament building. Police reported that the suspect had been hiding in the East Block, and authorities were on the scene attempting to control the situation.

Ottawa Police informed through their social media account, "Police are on the scene following the incident where an individual was surrounded in the East Block. A large police force has cordoned off the area. The East Block has been cleared, and no injuries have been reported. The police are working to resolve the situation."

They further stated that the situation was peacefully resolved at 10:39 PM, and the suspect had been arrested. Due to an ongoing investigation, further updates will be provided in the morning.

Earlier on Saturday morning, the Parliament Protective Service issued an urgent alert, advising people to "take shelter in the nearest room, close and lock all doors, and remain inside." Anyone not at the scene was instructed to "stay away from the area."

Police vehicles and a bomb squad were present at the location, and Wellington Street in front of Parliament was closed off. Police used robots to try to control the situation.

Even journalist Mercedes Stephenson tweeted, "According to legal sources, the situation is under control. The situation is being treated as a high-risk scenario to ensure the extent of the lockdown."

Currently, due to the federal elections in Canada, Parliament has been dissolved, and there is minimal activity taking place there.
