Tokyo: Japan's Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba is planning to have a phone call with U.S. President Donald Trump next week regarding tariffs.

While commenting on a television program, Ishiba mentioned that he would discuss the tariff issue with Trump, according to Japanese news agency Jiji Press.

Previously, after Trump imposed a 24% tariff, Ishiba called for a "calm approach," as Japan is one of the top trade partners of the United States.

On Friday, due to a decrease in banking shares, the Tokyo stock market is heading towards its worst week in several years.
