Los Angeles, January 14 – Due to the ongoing wildfires, the announcement of this year’s Oscar nominations has been postponed for the second time, announced the Oscar organizers. The nominations will now be announced on January 23, which was initially scheduled for January 17 and then moved to January 19.

Bill Kramer, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and Academy President Janet Yang issued a joint statement, saying, "As wildfires continue in the Los Angeles area, we have decided to extend the voting period and move the nominations announcement to allow additional time for our members."

Before the nominations announcement, the Academy’s annual nominees luncheon, a formal event not televised, has also been canceled. Additionally, the Academy’s Science and Technology Awards ceremony, which was set for February 18, will be rescheduled.

However, the 97th Academy Awards ceremony will still take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre and will be broadcast live on ABC, with live streaming on Hulu.

This is the second time the Oscar nominations announcement has been delayed. In 2021, the nominations were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Previously, in 1938, the Oscars ceremony was delayed by one week due to floods in Los Angeles.
