Several celebrities, including Paris Hilton, Billy Crystal, and Adam Brody, have lost their homes in the ongoing devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.
More than 1,000 buildings have been destroyed due to the wildfires, with six separate blazes raging across the city, known for its mansions of film stars.
The worst damage has occurred in the Pacific Palisades area, where a fierce fire has spread from several hundred acres to more than 15,000 acres since Tuesday.
This area, nestled against the Santa Monica Mountains and winding through hillside roads, has been devastated, with much of it now reduced to ash.
Loss in Pacific Palisades
Oscar-nominated actor James Woods, known for his roles in "Nixon" and "Casino," broke down in tears during an interview with CNN as he described losing his home in Pacific Palisades. He said, "One day you're swimming in the pool, and the next day, it's all gone."
Actor Billy Crystal and his wife Janice also expressed their sorrow over losing their Pacific Palisades home, where they had lived since 1979. They said the home was filled with memories of their children and grandchildren.
Other Celebrity Losses
Hotel heiress Paris Hilton posted on Instagram about losing her Malibu home, stating, "Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience."
Actor Adam Brody and his wife Leighton Meester, known for "Gossip Girl," also reportedly lost their home in the blaze.
Additionally, "The Hills" stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag also lost their home in the fire. Pratt shared a video of their home burning on the security cameras, while Montag said, "We were able to get out in time, but I keep thinking about the things I should have taken, but we are safe, and that's the most important thing."
Other Celebrities Affected
Singer and "This Is Us" actress Mandy Moore shared a video of the destruction and said, "Grateful for my family and pets getting out last night before it was too late... Honestly, I'm in shock and feeling numb for all so many have lost, including my family."
TV host Ricki Lake shared her heartbreak over losing her "dream home" and expressed her sympathy for all those affected by this "apocalyptic" event.
Actors Sir Anthony Hopkins, John Goodman, Anna Faris, and Cary Elwes also reportedly lost their homes.
Impact of the Fire and Safety Precautions
Due to the devastating impact of the fire, many celebrities have fled their homes in search of safety, thanking those who helped ensure their families' safety. Actor Mark Hamill and "Schitt’s Creek" actor Eugene Levy were also affected by the fire and had to evacuate their homes.
Hamill described this fire as the "most horrific" since the 1993 fire, noting that he had to evacuate his Malibu home at the last moment, with small fires on both sides of the road.
