Ankara, January 7 – Turkey has reiterated its firm commitment to establishing peace in the besieged Gaza. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated in a cabinet meeting, "Our efforts will continue until peace is established in Gaza." This report comes from Yeni Şafak.
Thanking the Turkish people, Erdoğan said, "Last week, around 500,000 people demonstrated in Istanbul, showing that Gaza is not alone. Our citizens have shown unwavering support for Palestine, sending a strong message to the world."
Drawing a parallel with the situation in Syria, the President remarked, "After 61 years of Ba'ath repression and 13 years of genocide, Syria has achieved freedom. With God's will, justice will prevail in Palestine as well. The light of justice will pierce through the darkness of oppression."
Calling on the international community to offer more support to Palestinians, he expressed hope, saying, "The year 2025 will bring peace and relief to the distressed people of Gaza."
Turkey's long-term goal regarding Palestine is to establish an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with territorial integrity, based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military attacks have been ongoing in Gaza. Over the course of more than a year, these attacks have resulted in over 45,000 deaths and more than 190,000 injuries. From the onset of the Gaza conflict, Turkey has maintained its steadfast support for the Palestinians and emerged as a strong advocate for Palestinian rights on the international stage.
