Ankara, January 7 – Turkey is working to ensure that the recent changes in Syria do not lead to new instabilities, said Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On Tuesday, he met with Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of Iraq's Kurdistan region, in Ankara, and the Turkish Presidency released a photo of the two leaders shaking hands.

The meeting took place at a time when Turkey has repeatedly stated that there is no place for the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and its affiliated groups in Syria’s future, especially after a rebellion last month ousted former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
