The death of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter has prompted reactions from both current President Joe Biden and President-elect Donald Trump. After Carter passed away on Sunday at the age of 100, both Biden and Trump expressed their respect and admiration for him.

Biden's Statement
On Monday, while vacationing in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Joe Biden spoke to reporters about Jimmy Carter's "humanitarian values and decency." He urged Trump to learn "decency. Decency. Decency." Biden also said, "Jimmy Carter was a man who never walked by someone in need. His behavior, his humanity earned him respect around the world."

Biden, reflecting on his personal friendship with Carter, described him as an "extraordinary leader" and "symbol of humanity." He added, "The world looks to us, and Jimmy Carter was someone worth looking to."

Trump's Response
Donald Trump, who is set to take office for his second term in January, responded to Carter’s death in a more measured tone. On Truth Social, Trump praised Carter as "a truly good man," stating, "Although I disagreed with him politically, he loved America and worked hard to make it a better place."

However, this response contrasted with his earlier comments. In October, on Carter's 100th birthday, Trump had called him "the happiest man," saying, "Biden’s presidency made Carter’s term seem brilliant in comparison."

Trump and Carter's Relationship
Trump and Carter's relationship has long been strained. In 2019, when Carter suggested that Russian interference had helped Trump win the 2016 election, Trump called Carter a "nice man" but a "terrible president" and the "forgotten president." Later that year, Carter warned that a second Trump term would lead to "disaster."

Carter's Life and Legacy
Jimmy Carter served as U.S. President from 1977 to 1981. In 2002, he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work in promoting peace, human rights, and development. Reflecting on Carter’s life and legacy, Biden posted on X, saying, "His efforts for peace and human rights will inspire generations to come."

The reactions of Biden and Trump to Carter's death reflect their differing perspectives and personalities within American politics.
