City's Brazilian star Savinho scored his first goal in the 21st minute of the match. Leicester goalkeeper Stolarczyk parried a long shot from Phil Foden, but Savinho seized the rebound and fired it into the net from a sharp angle, igniting celebrations among City fans.
In the 74th minute, City's star striker Erling Haaland doubled the lead. A looping cross from Savinho found Haaland, whose header left the goalkeeper helpless. This was only Haaland's second goal in his last eight league matches.
