Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris to Provide Full Support to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Including Humanitarian Aid
In a phone conversation with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris expressed the solidarity of the Irish people with the Palestinian people. He called for a sustainable ceasefire for Gaza, the delivery of urgent humanitarian aid, and the release of all prisoners.
A statement from the Irish government stated, "Despite the humanitarian disaster and loss of life in 2024, the goal for the international community in 2025 should be to establish peace through a two-state solution."
Harris further emphasized that his country would continue to work on ceasefire initiatives and the rebuilding of lives affected by the war, particularly through international platforms such as the European Union and the United Nations.
The phone call also noted that this week, the first eight critically injured Palestinian children would be brought to Ireland for medical treatment.
It is important to note that on December 15, Israel announced the closure of its embassy in Dublin, accusing Ireland of having an anti-Israel policy. However, Ireland has rejected this accusation.
