Following their victory in the first T20, Litton Das’s side secured another win in the second match, sealing a historic series win against the West Indies.
On Wednesday (December 18), Bangladesh defeated the Caribbean side by 27 runs in the second T20 at Kingstown’s Arnos Vale Stadium, St. Vincent. Batting first, Bangladesh posted 129 runs for 7 wickets. In response, the West Indies could manage only 102 runs in 18.3 overs, handing the visitors the series with one match to spare.
Batting first, Bangladesh struggled in the initial 10 overs, scoring only 45 runs. However, a brilliant unbeaten 35-run innings off 17 balls by Shamim Hossain helped the team add 84 runs in the last 10 overs, setting a competitive total of 129 runs.
Chasing the target, the West Indies faced early trouble as Bangladeshi bowlers mounted immense pressure. Taskin Ahmed struck in his first over, removing both openers, Brandon King and Andre Fletcher. By the end of the powerplay, the hosts were reeling at 4 wickets down.
The Caribbean batters failed to recover from the early blows. Experienced batters like Johnson Charles and Nicholas Pooran couldn’t step up, scoring 14 and 0, respectively. Sheikh Mahedi Hasan dismissed both in consecutive overs, putting Bangladesh firmly in control. Hasan Mahmud and Tanzim Hasan Sakib joined the wicket-taking spree, further dismantling the opposition.
West Indies captain Rovman Powell managed only 6 runs, while Romario Shepherd departed for a duck. Eventually, the hosts were bowled out for 102 runs in 18.3 overs, giving Bangladesh a resounding 27-run victory and securing the series 2-0 with one game remaining.
