Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian will attend the D-8 Economic Cooperation Organization summit in Egypt on Thursday. This information was confirmed by Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei. This will be the first visit by an Iranian president to Egypt in more than a decade.

The summit, hosted by Egypt, will be attended by member countries of the D-8, including Bangladesh, Indonesia, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran.

Diplomatic relations between Egypt and Iran have been largely cold for several decades. However, following the Gaza crisis last year, high-level diplomatic contacts between the two countries have increased. Egypt, in particular, has played a mediating role in addressing the ongoing Middle Eastern crises.

Analysts believe that the Iranian president's visit will not only strengthen diplomatic ties between the two countries but also reinforce regional economic cooperation within the D-8 platform.
