Proposal for Comprehensive Sanctions Against Israel in the British Parliament
Sixty members of the British House of Commons have called for the imposition of comprehensive sanctions against Zionist Israel. They urged the British Foreign Secretary to refrain from any form of economic or trade agreements with Tel Aviv.
The initiative was led by two independent Members of Parliament, Richard Burgon and Imran Hussain, who, along with 60 parliamentarians, wrote a letter to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy. In the letter, they stated that Israel's repeated violations of international law warrant the imposition of comprehensive sanctions.
According to a report by Press TV, the letter referenced a July ruling by the International Criminal Court (ICC), which declared Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories illegal and called for its immediate cessation.
Earlier, on Thursday, pro-Palestinian supporters staged a sit-in protest outside the residences of the British Foreign and Trade Ministers in London, demanding an immediate halt to arms exports to Israel.
The protesters called on the British government not to participate in the ongoing ethnic cleansing campaign in Gaza by Zionist Israel. They emphasized that, since October 7, 2023, over 44,000 people have been killed in Israel's horrific massacres in Gaza, and participating in such atrocities is unacceptable.
A few months prior, senior British Foreign Ministry official Mark Smith resigned in protest against Britain's support for Israel's ethnic cleansing in Gaza. In a message on X, the former diplomat wrote:
“The genocide being carried out by Israel in Gaza is evident to all. I cannot continue to work as a partner in this horrific crime.”
Since October 7, 2023, Zionist Israel, with the comprehensive backing of Western nations, has launched a devastating genocide against innocent and oppressed Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.
According to the latest statistics from Gaza’s health ministry, nearly 44,000 Palestinians have been martyred, and over 107,000 people have been injured in Israel's massacres. A significant portion of the casualties are women and children.
The foundation of Zionist Israel began in 1917 under British colonial rule, with a plan to settle Jewish immigrants from various countries in Palestinian lands. In 1948, the formal existence of this illegal state was declared. Since then, Israel has carried out numerous massacres to kill Palestinians and occupy their entire territory.
