Priyanka Gandhi Takes Oath in Parliament for the First Time, Commits to Upholding the Constitution
New Delhi: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra started her parliamentary journey on Thursday by taking the oath as a Member of Parliament. She was recently elected in the by-election from the Wayanad seat in Kerala.
Reflecting the cultural heritage of Wayanad, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wore the traditional Kerala Kasavu saree during the oath-taking ceremony. Holding a copy of the Constitution, she took the oath, symbolizing her commitment to safeguarding the Constitution.
Priyanka Gandhi Vadra stated that her main focus would be to highlight national issues of significance and fight strongly for the country and her party.
It is noteworthy that her brother and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi had vacated the Wayanad seat to contest and win from Rae Bareli. Following this, Priyanka contested the by-election from Wayanad. In the by-election, Priyanka Gandhi won with a massive margin of 410,931 votes.
Rahul Gandhi often carries a red copy of the Constitution at his public rallies as part of his movement to protect the Constitution against the current central government. Following in his footsteps, Priyanka Gandhi has begun her parliamentary career.
With Priyanka Gandhi's oath-taking, Congress workers feel a renewed sense of enthusiasm and are hopeful for the development of Wayanad under her leadership.
