Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has stated that the war between Ukraine and Russia could end more swiftly if Donald Trump returns to the U.S. presidency. In a radio interview on Friday with the Ukrainian state broadcaster Suspilne, Zelensky expressed optimism, saying, "I believe the war will end," though he added, "There is no specific date for that."
Zelensky noted that the change in leadership at the White House could lead to faster resolution, citing the U.S. administration's approach and commitment to its society as crucial factors. "It will be very important for them," he said.
Meanwhile, during his campaign for a second term, Trump claimed that if he were president, the Ukraine-Russia conflict would never have happened. In July, Trump confidently stated, "I could settle this war in one day."
Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, have raised concerns about continuing U.S. support for Kyiv, casting doubt on future assistance. The war, which began with Russia's large-scale invasion, has now been ongoing for more than two years.
