Trump Rejects Iran’s Counterproposal as Gulf Tensions Deepen

U.S. President Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s response to Washington’s latest ceasefire proposal, calling it “totally unacceptable” in a social media post.

According to U.S. media reports, Tehran sent its response through Pakistani mediators but refused to accept what it described as a deal “equivalent to surrender.” Iran demanded war reparations from the United States, full Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz, the removal of sanctions, and the return of seized Iranian assets.

Washington’s proposal reportedly focused on ending the conflict, reopening the strategic Hormuz waterway, and limiting Iran’s nuclear program. However, Trump dismissed Iran’s counterconditions without providing details, accusing Tehran of “playing games” with the United States for nearly 50 years.

Meanwhile, U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz said Washington wants to give diplomacy “every possible chance” before returning to military confrontation.

At the same time, Iran’s new supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei reportedly met senior military commanders for the first time since the war began. Iranian state television claimed he ordered a “powerful confrontation against enemies” to continue.

The ongoing deadlock has intensified pressure on shipping and energy supplies across the Persian Gulf, while global oil prices have continued to rise amid fears of wider regional instability.
