Trump Signals US–Iran Talks Could Restart Within 48 Hours Amid Rising Tension

Fresh diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran may resume within the next 48 hours, according to US President Donald Trump, raising cautious optimism for a breakthrough in the ongoing Middle East crisis.

Speaking to media, Trump indicated that a second round of negotiations could take place soon—likely again in Pakistan—after earlier talks ended without agreement. He suggested that “something could be happening over the next two days,” signaling renewed momentum in stalled peace efforts.

The previous round of high-level discussions in Islamabad collapsed after nearly a full day of negotiations, with key disagreements centered on Iran’s nuclear program. The United States has pushed for a long-term suspension of uranium enrichment, while Iran has resisted such demands, insisting on its right to continue nuclear activities under international agreements.

Despite the breakdown, international actors remain hopeful. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said it is “highly probable” that talks will restart soon, emphasizing the importance of sustained diplomacy to maintain the fragile ceasefire.

Tensions, however, remain high. The US recently imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports following the failed مذاکرات, while Iran’s earlier move to disrupt traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has already impacted global oil markets. Even so, news of possible renewed talks has slightly eased market fears.

Regional and global powers—including Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey—are actively supporting mediation efforts, hoping to prevent further escalation of a conflict that has already caused significant casualties and economic disruption.

While Trump expressed optimism about restarting dialogue, major sticking points remain unresolved, leaving the outcome of any renewed negotiations uncertain.
