Remove Mines from Strait of Hormuz or Face Unprecedented Military Action.
U.S. President Donald J. Trump has issued a stern warning to Iran regarding the potential placement of naval mines in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. Trump stated that any mines placed must be removed immediately, or the United States will respond with “military action at a level never seen before.”
In a post on his social media platform, President Trump noted that there is currently no confirmation that Iran has actually deployed mines, but emphasized that if mines exist and are not removed, the U.S. response would be far stronger and more severe than before.
Trump added, “If they remove the mines, it will be a giant step in the right direction.” He also warned that the U.S. would use the same technology and missile capabilities used against drug traffickers to quickly neutralize any boat or ship attempting to lay mines in the Strait.
The Strait of Hormuz is a critical chokepoint for global trade, carrying roughly 20% of the world’s oil shipments. This warning comes amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East and the U.S.–Israel military operations against Iran.
Global oil prices have already risen, and any disruption in the Strait could have serious consequences for energy supply and the global economy.
