Speaking to reporters on Saturday as he departed the White House for the annual Army–Navy football game, President Trump confirmed that two U.S. Army soldiers and a civilian U.S. interpreter were killed in an ambush attack in Syria carried out by a lone ISIS gunman.

The president said the country is grieving the tragic loss of the soldiers and the interpreter, who were serving in support of U.S. counterterrorism operations in the region.


Trump Issues Warning to ISIS

President Trump sent a clear message to ISIS and any group targeting U.S. forces, stating that the United States would not hesitate to retaliate.

He emphasized that attacks on American troops would be met with decisive action, reinforcing Washington’s commitment to protecting its personnel abroad.


Wounded Soldiers Recovering

According to President Trump, three other U.S. soldiers were wounded in the attack but are “doing well.”

The injured personnel were evacuated by helicopter to the al-Tanf garrison, a U.S. military installation located near the borders of Iraq and Jordan, The Associated Press reported, citing Syrian state media.
