Iran and Pakistan Vow to Strengthen Military and Defense Cooperation Amid Border Tensions

Iran and Pakistan have reaffirmed their commitment to bolstering military and defense cooperation in light of increasing terrorist activities along their shared border. The announcement came during a meeting between Iran’s Deputy Defense Minister, Brigadier General Hojjatollah Qoreishi, and Pakistan’s Defense Minister, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, in Islamabad on Friday.

Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current state of bilateral cooperation and pledged to enhance it further. Khawaja Asif emphasized the deep-rooted ties between the two neighboring Muslim countries, citing their shared religious and cultural heritage.

He lauded Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, for his unwavering support for oppressed nations around the world, a stance that Pakistan greatly appreciates.

During his visit, General Qoreishi and his delegation also held discussions with Pakistan’s Defense Secretary, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali, in Rawalpindi. These talks focused on identifying ways to strengthen bilateral military collaboration.

In addition to his meetings with senior defense officials, General Qoreishi met with the Chief of the Pakistan Air Force and the Deputy Chief of the Pakistan Navy to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in air and naval defense.

The visits and discussions reflect a mutual resolve to address shared security challenges and foster stronger defense ties in the face of rising threats along their border regions.
