[Budapest, July 26, 2025] — Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has warned that the threat of a third world war is steadily growing, and that the international community must do everything possible to prevent it.

In a televised address aired Saturday on Hungary’s M1 TV channel, Orbán stated:

“Perhaps the most important question right now is—will there be a third world war? And the answer is, the likelihood is increasing day by day.”

Orbán Cites Global Survey Results

To illustrate how real this threat feels to people around the world, Orbán shared the results of public opinion polls from six major countries. He said:

“Surveys show that fears of a third world war erupting within the next five to ten years are felt by 55% of French citizens, 50% of Spaniards, 46% of Italians, 45% of Americans, and 41% each of Britons and Germans.”

Orbán’s Warning

Orbán emphasized:

“The whole world is now feeling the cold winds of war.”

He added that the current global situation is deeply alarming, and that to avoid a broader war, there is an urgent need for responsible leadership, international diplomacy, and renewed peace efforts.
