Ceasefire in Gaza likely this week, we are very close to a deal — President Donald Trump

A ceasefire agreement in Gaza could be reached as early as this week, U.S. President Donald Trump has said. Responding to questions from journalists during a meeting at the White House with leaders of five South African nations, Trump stated, “We are very close to an agreement. There is a very good chance of a ceasefire deal in Gaza either this week or next.”
Earlier on Tuesday, President Trump held his second meeting in two days with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The talks focused on Israel’s devastating military campaign in Gaza and the resulting humanitarian crisis.
Trump said, “We have an opportunity — either this week or next. I’m hopeful that we can reach an understanding.”
U.S. diplomatic efforts regarding a Gaza ceasefire have gained new momentum, especially since Trump’s return to office for a second term, where he has prioritized advancing the Middle East peace process. Analysts suggest that if the agreement is implemented, it would mark significant progress not only for Gaza but for the entire region.
