Once again, Elon Musk, one of the most influential figures in the tech industry, has stirred controversy around President Donald Trump’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill.” In a direct statement on Saturday, he called the bill “pure madness and destructive.”

On his own social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Musk wrote:
“This bill will destroy millions of American jobs and severely damage the country’s strategic position. It subsidizes old industries while harming the industries of the future.”

Musk currently serves as CEO of electric vehicle maker Tesla and space exploration company SpaceX.

Repetition of an Old Conflict
Earlier this month, Musk had described Trump’s bill as a “disgusting abomination.” At that time, he was known as one of Trump’s major financial backers and political advisors. That comment sparked waves in Washington politics and triggered a conflict.

Since then, the relationship between Trump and Musk has steadily deteriorated.

After the conflict reached a peak, both parties spoke in somewhat calmer tones. Trump told reporters, “I wish Musk well.” Meanwhile, Musk admitted in a post, “I went way too far.”

At the height of the conflict, Musk posted on X insinuating that President Trump was linked to the corrupt billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, though he later deleted the post.

This event, in many eyes, shattered the last pillar of the Trump-Musk relationship.

Analysts had speculated that after the tensions, the two might somewhat reconcile. However, Saturday’s public criticism made it clear that the divide between Trump and Musk has deepened and the conflict is likely to become permanent.
