International news agencies Reuters and AFP have reported that Iran launched six missiles at the U.S. military base Al-Udeid, located in Doha, Qatar. Eyewitnesses stated that the loud sounds of explosions were heard across the Qatari capital, Doha.
According to BBC Arabic, BBC Persian, and U.S.-based Axios News Agency, Iran directly targeted the U.S. joint military base in Qatar with six missiles.
An unnamed Israeli intelligence official told Axios that the attacks were pre-planned and directly executed from within Iran. Meanwhile, shortly before the attacks, the Wall Street Journal quoted a U.S. defense official who said Iran had been redeploying missile launchers across various locations in the Middle East.
Al-Udeid Air Base is one of the most strategically significant military installations for the United States in the Middle East. It hosts around 8,000 American troops and also has a British military presence.
