Despite extensive U.S. airstrikes, Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization, has stated that Iran’s nuclear program cannot be suppressed. He said,
“The roots of Iran’s nuclear industry run very deep; it is impossible to destroy them.”
Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that Kamalvandi clarified Iran’s nuclear capability does not rely solely on infrastructure or equipment but is part of Iran’s own science, technology, and human resources.
He said,
“The roots of the nuclear industry exist within Iran, and these roots cannot be destroyed.”
This statement indirectly questions the effectiveness of the U.S. “Operation Midnight Hammer,” which was recently carried out against three Iranian nuclear sites.
Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi made similar remarks, saying Iran’s nuclear program is built on the country’s “indigenous nuclear knowledge” and technology, which “cannot be destroyed by bomb attacks.”
Analysts say these messages aim primarily to maintain morale among the Iranian people and to challenge the U.S.’s aggressive strategy on the international stage.
While the U.S. claims it has pushed back Iran’s capability to build nuclear weapons, Iran’s counter-position indicates a firm resolve to continue its program.
