In a crucial meeting held today between Iran and European nations, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to reducing regional tensions and continuing dialogue over Iran's nuclear program. Following the meeting, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy emphasized, “Iran must keep the door open for negotiations with the United States.”

The diplomatic talks in Geneva were attended by European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas, as well as the foreign ministers of the UK, France, Germany, and Italy. During a brief press briefing after the talks, Kallas stated:
"Regional escalation benefits no one. That is why we must keep the channels of dialogue open."

Concerns over Nuclear Weapons and Regional Escalation

UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said, “We have made it absolutely clear — Iran cannot, under any circumstances, acquire a nuclear weapon.”

He added that European countries are eager to maintain dialogue with Iran and are committed to resolving the current crisis through diplomatic means.

Lammy continued,
“I call on Iran to continue its ongoing discussions with the United States. It is of utmost importance to ensure the conflict between Iran and Israel does not escalate further.”

He described the current situation as “extremely dangerous” and warned that any failure in diplomacy could destabilize the entire region.

Commitment to Continued Dialogue

European leaders stated that both sides had agreed to continue discussions not only on Iran’s nuclear program but also on broader regional and security issues. The purpose of the dialogue is to prevent the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict from spiraling into a full-scale war.

Joint Statement Forthcoming

The participating nations are currently preparing a joint statement, which will clarify their positions on diplomatic engagement with Iran, nuclear disarmament, and regional peace.

CSB News will publish the full statement as soon as it is officially released.
