Russian President Vladimir Putin met with editors from various international news outlets on Wednesday during a roundtable discussion in Moscow. The main focus of the discussion was the ongoing tensions in the Middle East—particularly the Israel-Iran conflict—Russian President Putin Avoids Commenting on Alleged Plot to Assassinate Iran's Supreme Leader Khamenei

and Russia’s potential role in the situation.

During the meeting, journalists asked Putin for his thoughts on concerns about an alleged plot to assassinate Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. In response, Putin said:

“I do not want to comment on these fears or speculations. Not at all. I’ve heard about them, but I don’t want to think about it or say anything regarding this.”

The topic of assassinating Khamenei recently surfaced after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu suggested in a statement that killing Khamenei “could help bring an end to the war.” The remark sparked significant backlash and widespread reaction.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump also recently addressed the issue, stating, “The United States knows where Khamenei is, but at the moment, there are no plans to kill him.”

In the meeting, President Putin further clarified that “so far, Iran has not requested any kind of military assistance from us. If they do, we will consider it.” He emphasized the importance of pursuing a political resolution to ease tensions in the Middle East.

This discussion took place at a time when the Iran-Israel conflict is deepening, and the international community is increasingly concerned about Khamenei’s security and the broader consequences of the war.
