Washington, June 17 —
In an explosive statement, U.S. President Donald Trump revealed that Washington possesses reliable intelligence on the whereabouts of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and that eliminating him is entirely possible. However, Trump clarified that the United States is deliberately refraining from such an action to avoid triggering retaliatory attacks against American civilians and military personnel.
On his Truth Social account, Trump wrote:
“We know where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He’s an easy target, but for now he’s safe — we’re not taking him out at this moment, and ultimately I don’t want him killed. At least not right now.”
He added:
“We don’t want missile strikes on civilians or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin.”
In a separate post, Trump wrote in all capital letters:
“UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER!” — a reiteration of his earlier demand directed at Iran.
Analysts say the statement not only escalates regional tensions but also raises new concerns about the personal security of Iran’s top leadership. As of now, Iran has not issued any official response to Trump’s remarks.
Given the ongoing Iran-Israel conflict and the recent declarations at the G7 summit, many believe Trump's comments will inject fresh volatility into international diplomatic discussions.
