Bangladesh's Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus today held a private one-to-one meeting with the United Kingdom’s King Charles III, during which he discussed the ongoing reform programs in Bangladesh.
Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, during a briefing in London, said, “At 11:20 AM today, a one-to-one meeting was held between King Charles III and our Chief Adviser. It was a completely private meeting.”
He stated that the meeting focused on the significant transitions and transformations currently taking place in Bangladesh. Professor Yunus briefed the King on the reform initiatives undertaken by his government.
Highlighting that the 30-minute meeting was very cordial, Shafiqul Alam said, “King Charles has known Professor Yunus for a long time, which allowed them to discuss many issues.”
He added, “Among all the events of this tour, I would say this was the most important one.”
At the end of the meeting, a photograph of the King and Queen, signed by them, was presented as a gift to Professor Yunus, which the Press Secretary described as a special honor for the Chief Adviser.
King Charles welcomed Chief Adviser Professor Yunus to Buckingham Palace for a private audience.
In addition to his regular diplomatic and political meetings, King Charles also meets individuals who have made extraordinary contributions in their respective fields, have taken up royal appointments, or have received awards given in the King’s name.
By granting such private meetings or ‘audiences’, the King recognizes the significance of an individual’s work, gets the opportunity to learn more about them, and provides them with a memorable royal experience.
An ‘audience’ refers to a one-on-one meeting with the King.
