Vilnius, June 2 – Ukrainian strikes on multiple Russian air bases on Sunday signify a major success in the country’s self-defense efforts, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen said on Monday.
“I believe Ukraine has the right to self-defense, and sometimes that means striking back. It seems this particular attack was successful,” Frederiksen commented when asked about the Ukrainian operation.
Ukraine’s domestic intelligence agency, the SBU, has claimed responsibility for the attacks, stating that “Operation Spider’s Web” had been in planning for nearly a year and a half.
Speaking at a summit of Nordic, Baltic, and Eastern European leaders in Vilnius, Lithuania, Frederiksen emphasized the urgent need for Europe to rearm.
“Russia is a threat to all of us, so we must strengthen our eastern front... We are still pushing for a ceasefire, but at the same time, we must do everything necessary to ensure Ukraine’s victory on the battlefield,” said the Danish Prime Minister.
