If Israel Agrees to End the War with International Guarantees, Hamas is Ready to Release All Hostages Under a Comprehensive Deal
The Palestinian resistance group Hamas has denied a report spreading across international media regarding a possible hostage exchange and ceasefire, calling it baseless. Senior Hamas leader Sami Abu Zuhri told Qatar-based Al Jazeera in an interview that the information reported by U.S. news outlet CNN — claiming Hamas is ready to release 7 to 9 hostages if Israel agrees to a 60-day ceasefire — is “not true.”
The report was based on claims from an anonymous Hamas official. However, Abu Zuhri made it clear that Hamas is prepared to release all hostages in one phase under a comprehensive agreement — but only if Israel agrees to end the war with international guarantees.
He further accused Israel of “spreading false information to mislead the public” and claimed that this was an attempt to exert international pressure on Hamas.
In another interview with Al-Aqsa TV, Abu Zuhri said, “We tried to create a climate for understanding by releasing the Israeli soldier Idan Alexander, but the U.S. administration failed to appreciate this humanitarian gesture.”
He also stated that Hamas is not worried about its future and that “our operations have not been disrupted” despite the overwhelming military strength of the Israeli forces.
These statements come at a time when discussions and possibilities of a final agreement regarding the Gaza war are ongoing in the international arena.
