In a meeting with organizers of Iran’s National Congress of Martyr Doctors and a group of Iranian aid workers, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei emphasized the importance of spreading Iran’s culture of martyrdom and self-sacrifice as a means to resist Western influence.
He condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza as contrary to all humanitarian values, stating, “The barbarity of the Zionist regime in Gaza, and the support it receives from the Western world, stands in complete contrast to the spirit of self-sacrifice of the Iranian nation.” He further asserted, “It is everyone’s responsibility to stand up against this front of falsehood.”
According to Ayatollah Khamenei, Israel’s devastating military campaign in the Gaza Strip has killed over 60,000 civilians, completely destroyed the region, and is now implementing a plan to forcibly displace the remaining population.
He remarked, “Today, some human-shaped beasts are ruling the world,” clearly referring to Israeli leaders and their Western backers. He added that the main issue Western oppressors have with Iran is that it has rejected their false notion of civilization. “Falsehood is on the path to destruction. But achieving this requires action, perseverance, and a firm refusal to remain inactive, retreat, or smile and praise falsehood—because such actions only strengthen lies.”
Ayatollah Khamenei stressed the need to honor and immortalize Iran’s martyrs, particularly the doctors who sacrificed their lives during the Iran-Iraq war. He praised the medical professionals who risked everything, rushing into gunfire not for themselves, but to save others. “Their extraordinary sacrifice reached such heights that they sometimes treated wounded enemy soldiers as well. This behavior stands in absolute contrast to a world devoid of humanity,” he said.
He also noted, “The dedication of doctors and nurses at field hospitals near the frontlines can only be described through the language of art.”
Criticizing the failure to properly showcase these great national achievements, he remarked, “Some countries with no real heroes or history manufacture false heroes and widely promote them. Yet we possess real heroes who must be made part of our public culture. This will prove that rescue and aid are Islamic and humanitarian duties that must be passed down through generations.”
The Supreme Leader highlighted that the energy and creativity of motivated youth across fields such as art, politics, construction, literature, and culture are the driving force behind the nation’s progress. He concluded, “With the presence of such determined and highly motivated young people, nothing is impossible in this country.”
