Nobel Peace Prize-winning Pakistani human rights activist Malala Yousafzai has issued a strong appeal to the leaders of both India and Pakistan to take steps to reduce ongoing tensions between the two countries.
In a statement on X (formerly Twitter), Malala said, “Hate and violence are enemies to us all — we are not enemies to each other.”
She wrote, “I strongly urge the leaders of India and Pakistan to take steps to de-escalate tensions, ensure the safety of civilians — especially children — and stand united against the forces of division.”
Malala also called on the international community to take immediate and effective action, stating, “The international community must now encourage dialogue and diplomacy. Peace is the only path to our collective security and prosperity.”
She added, “I extend my deepest condolences to the families of innocent victims on both sides. In this dangerous time, I am thinking of my family, friends, teachers, fellow rights activists, and the girls in Pakistan we work with.”
Against the backdrop of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Malala’s message highlights the urgent need for peace and humanity.
