In response to the April 22 terrorist attack in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir, India has delivered a strong retaliation. The attack claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians. As part of ‘Operation Sindhur’, Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force jointly launched a series of precise strikes early Wednesday morning on terrorist camps located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and within Pakistan itself.
India’s Foreign Secretary Vikrant Mishra, Colonel Sophia Qureshi, and Wing Commander Viyomika Singh informed the press that strikes were carried out at 21 different locations. These include Sawai Nala, Sayyed Na Bilal, Maskar-e-Aqsa, Chelabandi, Abdullah Bin Masood, Dulai, Garhi Habibullah, Batrasi, Balakot, Oghi, Boyi, Senasa, Gulpur, Kotli, Barali, Dungi, Barnala, Mehmuna Joya, Sarjal, Muridke, and Bahawalpur.
India's Ministry of Defence stated in a release that the strikes were “precise, measured, and non-provocative.” No Pakistani military installations were targeted.
Reacting to the situation, U.S. President Donald Trump said:
“This is very terrible. I know both countries well. I want them to resolve this together. I want them to stop. They’ve responded to each other, but now it’s time to calm down. If I can help in any way, I will stand by their side.”
