[Moscow, May 4, 2025] — According to a report by state news agency TASS, Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that Russia is capable of completing its special military operation in Ukraine successfully without resorting to nuclear weapons.

"They tried to provoke us, to make us commit mistakes," said the Russian president. "There was no need to use the weapons you mentioned. I hope there won’t be a need in the future either," he added.

Putin further stated, "We have sufficient capabilities and means to achieve the results Russia needs from the operation we began in 2022."

Russia has reiterated multiple times that the use of nuclear weapons would only be considered as a last resort. In November, Putin approved an updated version of Russia’s nuclear doctrine.
