The mother of Israeli hostage Matan Zangauker, Einav Zangauker, has said that it will not be possible to secure the release of hostages held in Gaza as long as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu remains in power.

Speaking to Israeli Army Radio, she stated,
“I no longer have any expectations from Netanyahu. As long as he is in power and acting out of political and personal interests, I see no hope for any deal.”

According to the Israeli military, there are currently 59 hostages in Gaza, of whom only 24 are believed to be alive.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has long faced criticism from various sectors within Israel for allegedly obstructing efforts to end the war in Gaza and secure the release of the remaining hostages. As a result, weekly protests have been taking place across multiple Israeli cities demanding his resignation.

Protesters are chanting for the release of hostages and calling for Netanyahu to step down, accusing him of prolonging the war in Gaza to serve his political agenda.

Analysts suggest that this stance is not only delaying the release of hostages but also deepening Israel’s internal political crisis.
