Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, has called for a halt to arms supplies to Israel.
In a social media post, she wrote, "I am saying this seriously, how many children, their parents, and grandparents will we watch starve to death, burn alive, or be torn apart by Western-made bombs, wrapped in plastic bags?"
She stated that despite the immense humanitarian disaster caused by Israel in Gaza, several Western countries are still supplying deadly weapons to the region.
Albanese said, "Israel must be stopped, and similarly, those countries supplying it with arms must also be stopped."
This call has sparked new debates in the international community, and the demand for a ceasefire and an arms embargo has gained stronger support.
