Moscow, April 25, 2025: According to a report from the state news agency TASS, the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Donald Trump's special envoy for the Middle East, Steven Witkoff, held today at the Kremlin, lasted for three hours. This was the fourth meeting between the two leaders this year, and the second in the past two weeks.

Russian President's Foreign Policy Assistant Yuri Ushakov stated after the meeting, "The three-hour discussion was constructive and highly beneficial." He mentioned that the meeting had detailed discussions about U.S. plans regarding the conclusion of the Ukraine war.

Ushakov added, "The possibility of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine was discussed in particular." There have been no formal discussions between the two sides since the war began in February 2022.

Earlier, their previous meeting in Saint Petersburg on April 11 lasted for over four hours. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov noted, "The topics of discussion were complex and multifaceted, so it was natural for the meeting to take a long time."

U.S. envoy Witkoff did not offer any immediate comments on the meeting. However, it is known that European and Ukrainian officials have recently opposed certain U.S. proposals, which led to tensions during the discussions.

This meeting took place at a time when the Ukraine war has entered its fourth year, and it has become the deadliest conflict in Europe since World War II.

It is noteworthy that Steven Witkoff has emerged as the primary diplomatic figure representing the White House in dialogues with President Putin.
