Putin Praises Elon Musk as a “Remarkable and Revolutionary Thinker”

Moscow, April 16 – Russian President Vladimir Putin on Thursday praised Elon Musk and compared him to Sergei Korolev, the chief engineer behind the Soviet Union’s space success. The report comes via Russian state news agency TASS.

According to TASS, Putin made the remarks during a meeting with students on Russia’s space policy:

“You know, there is a person in the United States who is, one could say, absolutely obsessed with Mars.”

He compared Musk to Korolev, who played a key role in sending Yuri Gagarin into space in 1961 as the first human to orbit the Earth under the Soviet space program.

TASS further reported Putin saying:

“Such people are born very rarely in human society—those who work with full enthusiasm toward a specific idea. Even if those ideas may seem unrealistic today, over time they often become reality.”

Putin had previously referred to Musk, founder of SpaceX, as “an extraordinary person.”

Notably, Elon Musk is currently serving as an important advisor to US President Donald Trump and has recently made increasingly critical comments about Ukraine. Ukraine has been fighting against Russia since 2022, when the Kremlin sent tens of thousands of troops into the country.
