Solidarity with Palestine: Mass Protest in Pakistan’s Karachi Against Israeli Atrocities in Gaza

 Karachi, Pakistan – April 14, 2025:

On Sunday, in a powerful display of support for Palestine, hundreds of thousands of people gathered on the streets of Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city, to protest Israel’s brutal attacks on Gaza. The massive rally, titled the "Gaza Solidarity March," saw participants waving Palestinian flags and holding pictures of martyrs as they chanted slogans against Israel.

Organized by Jamaat-e-Islami, the demonstration featured symbolic gestures like placing dolls wrapped in white shrouds along the road, representing the innocent children killed in the ongoing conflict. Thousands of women, many of them veiled and accompanied by their children, marched along Karachi’s major Shahrah-e-Faisal road. Members of the Christian and Hindu communities also joined in solidarity.

Large banners displayed at the protest read:

  • “Stop bombing Gaza”

  • “Down with Israel”

  • “Genocide in Gaza – Shame of the Muslim world”

One of the key visual highlights of the rally was a 100-foot-long Palestinian flag carried by students.

The crowd echoed with powerful chants like “Labbaik ya Gaza” and “Labbaik ya Aqsa,” symbolizing their unwavering support for Gaza and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

Addressing the gathering, Jamaat-e-Islami chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman declared, “Palestinians will never surrender to the occupiers.” Organizers claimed that over 100,000 people participated in the march.

Meanwhile, a separate “Palestine Solidarity Conference” organized by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) also drew thousands. JUI leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman labeled Israel as a “terrorist state” and held the United States and European countries accountable for supporting Israeli war crimes.

According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the Gaza war — which began in October 2023 — has claimed the lives of approximately 51,000 Palestinians, the majority being women and children.

In addition, the International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Simultaneously, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) is hearing a case accusing Israel of committing genocide in Gaza.
