Ankara, April 13:
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has strongly criticized Israel for creating instability in Syria. He stated that Turkey will never drag Syria into fresh turmoil and will not allow Israel to create such conditions.

Erdogan's remarks come amid growing tensions between Turkey and Israel, particularly following recent airstrikes on several military installations in Syria.

Speaking at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Erdogan said, “Israel is trying to destroy the revolution that began on December 8, which aimed to oust Syria’s former President Bashar al-Assad.” He added, “Turkey is closely engaging with all major players to maintain Syria’s territorial integrity and stability, especially with Trump and Putin.”

During the forum, Erdogan also met with Ahmed Al-Shara, the head of Syria’s interim government. In the meeting, he said, “We are working to lift the global sanctions imposed on Syria.” Erdogan further emphasized, “Those who aim to destabilize Syria again will not be given any opportunity.”

Following Erdogan's remarks, Israel has increased its military presence and continued airstrikes on various Syrian military installations. Recently, Israel launched air raids on three military bases in Syria, while Turkish military forces have visited key Syrian airbases in Hama Province, including the T-4 and Palmyra airbases.

Turkey is reportedly planning to establish a joint defense agreement in Syria, which could allow Turkish forces to use Syrian airspace and set up ground bases.

Meanwhile, alongside improving ties with Syria, Turkish officials have rapidly established communication with Damascus, where discussions on a defense pact are underway. On the other hand, Israel is trying to expand its control over the Golan Heights region.

Experts have noted that Turkey's increasing military presence in Syria could pose a significant challenge to Israel. The deployment of air defense systems and Turkish fighter jets within Syrian airspace could undermine Israel's operational freedom in the region.
