The Ministry of Health in Gaza has referred Israel's obstruction of polio vaccine entry as a "time bomb," which poses a threat of spreading the disease.

In a statement, the ministry revealed that 602,000 children in Gaza are at risk of permanent paralysis and long-term disability if they are unable to receive the necessary vaccinations.

The ministry further stated, "Blocking the flow of vaccines means the collapse of efforts made over the past seven months, which will have severe and catastrophic consequences on the targeted population and the already disrupted health system, along with compounded social and economic impacts."

The ministry has called on health authorities to exert pressure on Israel to ensure the flow of polio vaccines.

Last year, the ministry, along with several UN agencies and other partners, conducted two polio vaccination campaigns in Gaza.
