President Donald Trump has stated that the United States should acquire Greenland to ensure "world peace" and "international security." He added that this move is important not only for the United States but for the entire world.
Following this statement, he, along with his wife Usha Vance, Vice President J.D. Vance, and other senior officials, visited a U.S. military base in Greenland on Friday. However, due to opposition from both Greenland and Denmark, the visit was limited.
Vice President Vance had lunch with the residents of Greenland and said, "We are not against the people of Greenland, but against the leadership of Denmark, which has not invested adequately in security here."
The people of Greenland were angered by such comments, with many stating, "Greenland is not for sale." Among them, 22-year-old Korr Hoi said, "This is not normal, always hearing Trump’s words, I don't want to take this pressure anymore."
Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also commented on the matter, saying, "Greenland is under Denmark, and our goal is to work together, but it is the right of the people of Greenland."
Greenland, located near the Arctic and holding strategic importance for greater Russia and China, has recently attracted significant interest from the United States. Despite President Trump's multiple attempts, the people of Greenland and Denmark have never allowed the rights of Greenland to be disputed.
