March 1, 2025 – A heated meeting took place at the White House between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, where the two leaders had an intense argument. As a result of the altercation, Zelensky was asked to leave the White House, and a pre-scheduled joint press conference was canceled.
During the meeting, President Trump advised Zelensky to show gratitude and accused him of "gambling with World War III." However, Zelensky stated that he would not compromise with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
President Trump wrote on his social media platform, "When you are ready for peace, you can come back." He further stated that Zelensky had "insulted the United States and the Oval Office."
Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in an interview with CNN, said, "Zelensky should apologize for his remarks." He added, "When you speak aggressively, it's not right for a country's leader, especially when the president is a mediator. He has spent his entire life working on solutions."
Rubio also stated, "Zelensky may not want a peace agreement. He says he does, but perhaps he doesn’t." According to him, the situation has changed significantly since the start of the war, and Zelensky no longer has any alternative options to control the situation.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt told reporters after the incident, "The American people are now exhausted because they have spent a lot of time and money supporting Ukraine." She said, "He has refused to accept the reality of the war, his people are dying, and the American people can no longer bear this situation."
She further stated that Zelensky’s position is now very different from when the war began in 2022. "He has no options left, but President Trump has many alternatives," she remarked.
Levitt added, "Trump’s priorities are different now, and he wants to end the war."
Amidst this, there is growing concern among the American public about financial aid to Ukraine, especially as the war continues to escalate and become prolonged.
