Los Angeles: Luka Dončić made his debut for the Lakers on Monday night, playing just 23 minutes and scoring 14 points. In his first game, he played brilliantly alongside his new teammates, including LeBron James, leading the Lakers to a 132-113 victory over the Utah Jazz.
Before Dončić's debut, he was introduced as the latest member of the Lakers, a ceremonial moment traditionally reserved for LeBron James. As Dončić entered the court, thousands of fans wearing gold t-shirts stood to applaud him, greeting him with excitement.
Dončić said, "I was a little nervous, but once I stepped onto the court, I really enjoyed it. It was amazing."
In the game, Dončić scored 14 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, and dished out 4 assists, including a three-court pass that set up LeBron James for a layup. Dončić said, "I'm really happy to be back on the court after nearly seven weeks."
This game marked Dončić’s first experience back on the court after a foot injury following Christmas, but with his performance, a new mission for the Lakers began.
Lakers coach J.J. Redick said, "Luka always handles situations well. His confidence and calm demeanor make him a great player."
Meanwhile, Utah Jazz coach Will Hardy stated, "When LeBron and Luka play together, it will definitely be great. Their mental pace is exceptional, and they will quickly find a way to play together."
This victory and Dončić’s debut bring new hope and energy for the Lakers.
