Washington: U.S. President Donald Trump has announced that on Monday, he will declare a 25% tariff on all types of steel and aluminum imports, including from Canada and Mexico. Additionally, Trump has mentioned that further import duties will be announced later.

Speaking with reporters on Air Force One, Trump said, "A 25% tariff will be imposed on all steel coming into our country," and similarly, aluminum will also be subject to tariffs. He stated, "If any country imposes a 130% tariff on us and we charge them nothing, that will no longer be allowed."

Trump also mentioned that he will announce "reciprocal tariffs," which could happen on Tuesday or Wednesday. This means that if any country imposes tariffs on U.S. goods, the United States will also impose tariffs on that country's products.

Trump's remarks have raised concerns among international trade partners. South Korea's acting president, Choi Sang-mok, held a meeting with trade experts on Monday to review how Trump's tariff announcement could affect their industries. From January to November last year, South Korea exported nearly $4.8 billion worth of steel to the U.S., accounting for 14% of its global steel exports.

Following this announcement, global trade markets have shown concerns, and stock markets have dropped, especially after Trump's first tariff declaration. Many U.S. citizens have expressed worries that the tariffs could lead to inflation in the future, resulting in a negative consumer sentiment.

President Trump's actions may create new challenges in international trade, and his decisions will have significant implications for global commerce.
