Brussels, February 5, 2025: Belgian police are searching for two suspects after a shooting incident at a metro station in Brussels. A source close to Reuters reported that police are conducting an operation in the metro tunnels to locate the suspects.
The Belgian prosecutor's office stated that no one was injured in the incident. Broadcaster VRT reported that the incident was likely drug-related, and that the shooters had aimed at one person but missed. VRT showed images on its website of two individuals entering the Clemenceau metro station in central Brussels and opening fire.
After the incident, several metro stations in Brussels have been shut down, and the police have initiated a large-scale operation to search for the suspects. A video showed heavily armed police assembling at Clemenceau station to carry out the operation.
Additionally, following the incident, the Brussels metro system's transport services were severely disrupted, as it is located near several important European Union institutions and NATO's headquarters. Clemenceau station is near the Brussels Midi train station, the arrival point for Eurostar trains from Paris and London.
